#1 Animation and Coding for the Web(Eye)

Vish and I decided that we would work together for this project. We both have different strength and weaknesses so should compliment each other with our skills. After we had sat down and read the brief. Where the brief outlined what we are being tasked to do. We decided that we would look at the internal body space of the human eye. We are unsure with what exactly we want our project goal to be at this stage as we have only conducted the research that we need and our initial ideas.

We have decided that we want to explore the eye from a position of science as the information required will provide an interesting challenge for us to over come. Once we had conducted the research into different types of medical conditions we decided we will take a look at colour blindness.

Our first idea was to visualise the differences between what images look like if someone is colourblind and if they were not. we took this project into the first Crit and we were told that the idea was too similar to other projects that were already out there. we then decided that we would change what we wanted to do. This is when I came up with the idea that we wanted to design our application for use within a hospital. I thought it would be interesting for a surgeon / doctor to be able to walk through step by step a process that needed to be performed on a patient such as corrective eye surgery. We also thought about the uses for opticians and how they could show the differences between the eye depending on if the person was short or long sighted.

We decided that we would take the idea for the opticians and run with this to see what we could come ups with. Vish created some initial mockups of a 2d and 3d model that we could use. I had presented the idea that we could do the project in 3d as it would allow the patient to explore the eye and allow them to visualise what was going on with their eye and what was needed to correct their sight issues.

After some more feed back in a Crit is was made clear that we should also look at visualising the difference between eye sight in a more visual way. We decided that we would do a side by side comparison of an image with the visual issue and an image which was normal so that someone could understand what the differences between the two issues were. We returned to some of the ideas that we had, had for or colour blindness idea and we took this and decided that we would visualise the short/long sightedness in a very similar way.

We are still unsure at this stage if we want to produce this in 2d or 3d. We will continue to work on refine the concept and gathering more information for our project and decided on the final presentation style after this stage. It is important that we have a clear understanding on what goes on in the eye and how we can represent this first we before we choose to do it in a 3d or 2d way.
