Apple Design Guidelines
The apple design guidelines set out a set of restrictions and recommendations a designer should follow when developing for a specific apple device. These guidelines cover everything from the size a button should be to the colour a word should be on the interface. The design guidelines fell into two main categories. Firstly the functional design of an interface so that it is easy for the user to interact with and secondly some recommendations on aesthetic.
Functional Design
Apple has defined limitations in their interface so that a user doesn't experience issues when using it. For example their is a minimum size a button should be so that it can be pressed on by a users finger. The reason for this is if a button is too small a user struggles to accurately press the button because the finger tip is larger than the button and doesn't fit on it. Another example is the minimum size font should be on the screen. This is so that someone with average eye sight is not straining to see the screen and can easily identify the information.
Aesthetic Design

In conclusion design guidelines are important as help a design to develop an interface which will function as well as direct them in the direction of aesthetic which maybe more suited to the size of interface. AppleWatch is an example of this as the interface is very small.
Sketching Interfaces
The next step was to sketch some interfaces that followed some of the Apple design guidelines but also some which did not. This would allow me to see where the issue may arise in the design guidelines for this project. Such as limitations in user interactions possible on AppleWatch for example certain gestures may not have been supported. It also allowed me to see if the Apple guidelines where too restricting and actually their maybe other ways to look at the interface that are outside of the guidelines.
