Processing 3 Programming

Writer's picture: WillWill

Processing 3 is a java framework which is designed to provide a visual representation of programming for designers and artists. I think processing achieve this okay, but I think the framework is defiantly  lacking. To make the application interactive the programmer has to have a strong understanding of Java in general, so for the previous project on Geometric Relationships the group I was in relied heavily upon me to write the application as my experience with Java was more than theirs. I think Processing is a good framework but it needs to have more added to it to make it simple for people to use. such as generating colour gradients isn’t easy with processing. also the way that all elements exist on the same layer it would be an improvement to be able to change the layers of elements and to also be able to drag things around without having to redraw the image each time, Or at least to take this away from the user of processing to do. I think this would be a great improvement to the Processing framework in general.
